Locally, the police are often referred to as the "po po" . . . I'm not much for using this slang, but tonight it fit.
We have a bad neighbor. Specifically, he's a bad pet owner. He is elderly. He is retired. He is, apparently, in poor health. So, when he retired several years back, someone gave him a puppy to keep him active. The puppy turned out to be what looks like a german shepard/lab mix. It is big, enthusiastic, and more than he can handle. The dog is badly trained (not trained at all) and poorly supervised. So, it charges our fence, barks, and growls at us. Once, it came through his poorly maintained fence into our yard.
The neighbors on the other side have a chain link fence (not the tall wooden fence on our side) and two very young children. I imagine that the dog charges, barks and growls at those children too. And, I assume it is their mother who calls animal control on a regular basis.
Animal control and two police cars were out front this evening. I didn't see them take the dog, but I did see the issuing of another citation. I hope our neighbor takes the opportunity to find the dog a more suitable home before animal control is forced to take it . . . which would be a death sentence. That would be sad . . . that the dog had to die because his owner is a dumbass.

Update: it seems that yet another citation for his pooch has brought out the stubborn in our neighbor . . . his dog has been out, charging the fences, barking, and being annoying even more than before. Maybe he actually wants animal control to take the dog?
