updates

as for my houseguest menu . . .

I'm now thinking an Aqua Fresca with watermelon and vodka will be my cocktail . . . and a trifle made with angel food cake, boozy custard, and raspberries.

But, Now, I have a second weekend company meal to plan. A friend recently had surgery and told her husband that the best way for her to heal is if she didn't have to run after their two small children or him. So, he and the kids took off to his parents' home on the other side of the country. Sunday night, I'm having my friend over for dinner. I'm thinking a fresh tomato pasta . . . farmer's market tomatoes peeled and diced up with some shallots, basil, capers and good olive oil . . . served with skewers of grilled shrimps. Now, that's a spa like meal for someone healing, right?
