Random highlights

The Three-Footed Cat is one stubborn little critter. When she wants something (read, the food on our plates) pretty much nothing will stop her from trying to get to it. Usually, a meal will start with several shakes of the squirt bottle . . . then a warning shot . . . then a direct hit. Lastly, one of us will scoop her up and put her in the bathroom for a "time out." She has come to associate the bathroom with being naughty. So, tonight I noticed she'd gone into the bathroom and was sitting there on her own. I asked if Phenom had put her in time out . . . the answer was no. Now I need to figure out what she did that even she knew merited a time out.

We have become the farmers' market's biggest fans. For breakfast today, I had sweet, yummy cherries. For dinner tonight, peaches so sweet and juicy I had to stand over the sink to eat them. I've finished off the last of the watermelon juice I made last week. And, am sad to see that the veggie bowl is nearly empty and it's another two days before farmers' market day.

Several months ago, friends started telling me that I should meet this chick who is a recent arrival to our community from the windy city. They all said that they just knew I'd like her. She's hip, socially aware, smart, and cool. Then, quite by accident, I ran into her at a local business persons type gathering. I made mention of the fact folks seem to think we should hang together. Since then, months ago, we've been trying to get together for a lunch date. Each time, crap has intervened. We were suppose to finally get together to try out the new italian place friends say doesn't suck (culinary wasteland, remember? "doesn't suck" means not everything is covered in ranch dressing). But, alas and alack . . . meetings have interrupted our plans. But there is a silver lining . . . in an act of faith on her part, she has suggested that we ride together to a meeting in another community for a social justice cause near and dear to both our hearts. And, what better way to get to know someone but a road trip, eh?
