I think a lot of folks who know me often find themselves wondering how my weird little mind works. I've offered to mind meld with the Phenom, but so far am met with violent refusals. Weenie.
Anyway, I like to talk to myself. I try to keep the dialogue inside my brain. I like to imagine better conversations than I actually ever really have. Or, how would I have answered a question better?
So, remember when the evil, tricky Katie Couric asked the innocent and doe-eyed Sarah Palin what news sources did she read? I love answering that question, BETTER.
My daily sources usually include: The Daily Beast. They have quick summaries of stories ranging from politics to gossip. I also usually take a quick look at the Huffington Post and Salon. I realize that I'm narrowing my own influences by relying so much on sites that filter and decide for their readers what is "important." However, all three also have commentary and opinion pieces and links to publications I wouldn't take the time to read myself. I also read over the New York Times daily, if nothing more than the headlines. I also realize that I'll never have a legitimate political career if I keep my reading list to the "liberal" leaning press. But, since the Old Woman threatened to disown any child or critter who ever ran for public office, I'm safe for now.
I also listen to NPR in my car and in podcasts. In fact, I think all my podcast subscriptions are NPR/PRI shows.
I also read my local newspaper daily. And, I generally catch some if not all of ESPN's Sports Nation or Sports Center. However, I did not watch the LeBron James special the other night. I admire that he wanted to use the media hype to create an opportunity to raise funds for his favorite charity, but a whole hour out of my life? I was too busy making custard for last night's trifle.
