Know when to say when

You know, when you start having dreams that you are helping brit-brit figure out how to put a baby-sized onesie over her own head, or that you are christina's doula, or that amy winehouse zombies are chasing you, or you start to compare your own reflection to the elephant man . . . it's time to take a day off. And, lay off the tmz.

So, I took the day off today. An actual day off. Not a day off to drive across the state . . . or cook 3 batches of cookies for charity . . . or paint backdrops for a play. An actual day off.

In my little corner of the south, we rarely ever see snow. Everyone else gets snow but us. I've long promoted the notion of "good weather days." Since everyone else who gets snow in the south gets the occasional surprise day off . . . and we don't . . . I think that one day each spring and fall we should declare a "good weather day" and shut everything down.

Today, I slept late . . . got up, "sober called" several friends, went outside and slept in the lovely 80s but not humid yet sun, came in and watched a movie on netflix instant viewing, took a nap, played with the dog, and had fish sticks and tater tots for dinner. Oh, and there was a brief nap curled up with the Phenom between playing with the dog and dinner. Now, I'm going to bed. By morning, I hope that when I look in the mirror I'll think "fine looking monkey" and not "elephant man."
