Code of Conduct

In a meeting earlier this week, it was brought to my attention that the "Code of Conduct" for my business prohibits "gambling, swearing, sexual harassment, and other unprofessional behavior."

One could argue that simply leaving the house each morning is a gamble -- but it's not like I'm planning to set up a dice game in the loo. And, I'm hardly a target for sexual harassment. But, how am I suppose to get through a day without my favorite emphasis words? huh?

This shit's fucked up.

Swear \Swear\, v. t.
1. To utter or affirm with a solemn appeal to God for the
truth of the declaration; to make (a promise, threat, or
resolve) under oath.
[1913 Webster]

2: to declare or affirm solemnly and formally as true; "Before
God I swear I am innocent" [syn: {affirm}, {verify}, {assert},
{avow}, {aver}, {swan}]
3: promise solemnly; take an oath
4: make a deposition; declare under oath [syn: {depose}, {depone}]
5: have confidence or faith in; "We can trust in God"; "Rely on
your friends"; "bank on your good education"; "I swear by
my grandmother's recipes" [syn: {trust}, {rely}, {bank}]
[ant: {distrust}, {distrust}]

Yeah. Wouldn't want that in a workplace. Although I suppose the emphasis & intent is on:

v 1: utter obscenities or profanities; "The drunken men were
cursing loudly in the street" [syn: {curse}, {cuss}, {blaspheme},
{imprecate}]

Now, what is obscene or profane (or unprofressional) depends upon the company.

For some, "pigfucker" might simply be descriptive. For others, it might be obscene.
