Reason for the 'tude?

Yes, it's a cat post. But, I have fewer (well, now equal) cat posts as blatherings about my work. Live with it.

Anyway, in addition to the critters we pay vet bills for, we also have become something of a way station for homeless critters. On any given day, we feed upwards of 10 neighborhood cats. Some hang out all the time here, others just stop by for the chow.

One of the regulars is one we dubbed Gordito because he was quite a fat kitten. He has grown into the most foul beast ever. He hisses at us when we are putting out food for the cats. He takes swipes at all the other cats, crowds the plate, and is generally foul. Another regular is Peaches. Peaches is a lovely creamy ginger color. We named it Peaches when it was a rather young kitten. Later, we figured out that Peaches is a boy. There was some discussion about the ramifications of naming a boy cat Peaches. But, we figured that cats don't have the same gender hang ups that other species, cough cough, have.

Last night, when I drove in from a late night mission of mercy, I was startled to see Gordito having sex with Peaches in the drive way.

Today, I mentioned it to the Phenom, and heard that the Phenom had also witnessed this at another time.

Of course, we are now trying to get a glimpse of Peaches' hiney. We feel terribly perverted.

There is also the possibility that they are a gay couple. I know - the anti-gay types like to point to the animal kingdom as "evidence" that gay isn't natural. But, then there were the gay penguins and other examples of gay behavior in animals (buffalos have quite an interesting way of garnering the interest of lady buffalos, and we had some bunnies once who were a bit light in the thumpers).

However, this could also be an explanation for Gordito's perpetual bad mood. I bet there isn't much of a supportive community for gay, homeless cats.
