One of the popular stories the Phenom tells of college is being in the dorm room, studying, the door open when a dorm-mate runs in and announces "Junior _____ has the clap"
The Phenom looks up, says "wow, I didn't' know that. Who's Junior _______?"
From that day forward, anytime Junior's name is spoken, we immediately make reference to the rumored case of the clap.
Tonight it occurred to me, what would it be like to have your name and "the clap" forever paired in the minds of random people, (and monkeys) some of whom you don't even know?
On the flip side, it's probably a good thing I've never met Junior, because I don't think I could ever keep a straight face or not ask "so, how's that case of the clap?"
UPDATE: Peaches is indeed a boy. But, I've also realized that he and Gordito are at least half siblings. Shocking indeed. Frankly, I'm at a bit of a loss as to what, if anything, I ought to do. If I interfere, aren't I imposing my values on creatures who may have no such prohibitions? If I don't interfere, am I perpetuating a crime?
