This thanksgiving holiday, the Phenom and I joined old friends for the meal-fest. We spend most thanksgiving holidays with this particular group of friends. The group includes old friends from university, their child, the female human's parents, and the couple's next door neighbors who are in their 80s. This is the same group of people we ring every new year in as well.
The meal was fantastic. I don't believe a better meal was had anywhere else on the planet.
We again observed the tradition of taking a nice long walk between dinner and dessert. The smaller groups walking/talking together morphed as conversations sparked and waned.
As I drove home today, I realized that the truly wonderful thing about humans is how you can create family groups. Monkeys tend to live in family groups and not explore outside the family group. You humans can love and care for each other just because you choose to. That maybe the single greatest feat of humans over critters.
