Chocolate Topped Goodness

Yum. I took a big bite of butter cake with chocolate ganache topping just before I started typing. YUM.

I made a boston creme pie for celebrating WS Random's birthday. We took WS to dinner at a fancy italian place. This is a place where I'm a regular - and can even order stuff not on the menu. However, it seems they have hired a number of rather young waitresses/hostesses. I was not pleased with the service. The hostess didn't ask "smoking or non?" - but assumed. Then tried to put us at a table directly in front of the singer --- I mean within spittle missing the mic and landing on you distance. When I asked that we not sit that close to the entertainment - she was rather surly about moving us -- the restaurant had about 5-6 parties - far from full.

Then, the hostess made us wait several minutes before she decided to bring us menus. Immediately after we got the menus, the waitress demanded to know what we wanted. When I explained that we had just received our menus and would need a minute - she disappeared for quite a long time. I guess she showed us a thing or two.

I guess I could sum up the service as "they did the absolute minimum you might expect from a waitstaff." Not what I would consider a good meal out. Fortunately, we didn't need to stay for dessert.

Right now, I'm simmering chicken thighs in a broth of onions, garlic, spices, etc and later will shred them to make into chicken tacos. Yum. The recipe comes from the Times - so, we'll see if they know what they're doing with the mexcanish foods.

I will be traveling this week and next and might be rather spotty with posting. I will be traveling to see the Old Folks and The Chick.
