Interesting exercise

Today, I got to be a speaker at a local school's "Career Day." I got to face classroom after classroom of sleepy, flat-expressioned faces to try to explain what it is I do for a living and why they need to stay in school and study, study, study . . . so that one day they too might have a fun and rewarding career. And, I had to keep a straight face. And, I may have shot myself in the foot for next year by announcing to one class, in the real world, there is no algebra.

It was interesting to think beyond the day-to-day activities of my job and break it down into skill sets. And, then trying to make it relevant to kids not old enough to drive.

I had a couple groups who were pretty responsive. All the groups were well behaved. But, sadly, nothing I do in my job comes close to being as interesting as the professional athlete I followed. sigh.
