All the Difference

I'm part of a community group that is gearing up for a Community Day. We are going to recruit members of our community to undertake a series of projects that, hopefully, will have an impact and lasting value to either other groups or individuals in our community. (I need the good karma points.)

The group has two co-chairs. And, oy! what a difference between them. One of the co-chairs is more the social butterfly, photo-op type and the other is a older, dignified woman who regularly rolls up her sleeves in our community.

Two weeks ago, the first co-chair sent out an email to the committee (through her secretary) with an outline of what needs to be accomplished by the next meeting and demanding that everyone do their jobs. It was annoying and seriously made some of us wonder if we didn't want to just bail on the project.

Today, I got an email from the other co-chair. Her approach is so sweet and heart-felt that I'm pretty sure that if she asked us all to line up and try to fly off the roof of her office building, we would, happily.

Okay, I'll put up with the first one a bit longer. But only because I wouldn't want to let the second one down. I'm a sucker like that.
