Where do your pop culture references come from? Seinfeld? Friends? SNL? Bogart Movies? Can you be dated by your pop culture references? I suspect that pop culture references are a more successful way to figure out how old a person is than their hair style. (You know who I'm talking about . . . you folks still rocking the teased up hair of the 80s? yeah, you.)
I think I need to work on my pop culture references. I need something more current than Jimmy Stewart and 70s era SNL. (ESK has no clue why I keep saying "OH NOOOOOOOO, MR. HANDS!" or why I insist that killing off Kenny in every episode is hack work.)
I did read an article the other day about the two references that instantly discredit anything you say . . . one, comparing any contemporary elected type to Hitler or the nazis. (Saying that about someone who wants more people to have access to health care is kinda the exact opposite of the most prolific mass murder of the 20th century, no?) And, two, drawing any parallels between the HBO series "Sex and the City" and contemporary issues faced by women. I guess if you want to draw misguided truisms from pop culture about over privileged white women, you should look to Gossip Girl.
However, all this being said, I'm pretty sure no one wants me to start drawing my pop culture references from Gordon Ramsay, right?
