Date Night

Couple o'things have me really extra appreciating the Phenom tonight. First, I spent almost an hour watching the Rachel Zoe project this morning. Beyond making my eye twitch with just how silly these people are and how they spend more time being all drama-y over stuff rather than just handling stuff . . . I noticed that Rachel's husband turned into a whiny, nasty, petulant little brat when she was facing styling several "stars" for the golden globes. Now, for a stylist . . . I imagine award season is very much the final exam of their year. A good partner would be fetching coffees and saying things like "what can I do to help?" Not whining about how you don't love me.

I realized that the Phenom is tremendous when I'm extra busy with work or family obligations or what have you. The Phenom does things like fetch me coffee and vaccuum the floors and clean toilets.

Then, to make me even more aware of how I'm just the luckiest monkey around, we had dinner out tonight. Around me, I noticed other couples having dates too. But, in pretty much every couple around me, at least one member of the couple was playing with their cell phones. What a way to let the person you are with to feel unloved and unappreciated. Phenom never does that to me. When it's date night . . . we have an actual date . . . with talking . . . and laughing . . . and maybe even a bit of hand holding.

I am one lucky and happy monkey.

The things I learned about the Phenom when we were in grad school together is that I could always count on him to come through in the clutch, that he is loads of fun to get liquored up with and that he is a mensch (this is a bit redundant given the first two items noted)!

I have to agree on all points . . . and if you joined us in nola in the fall, he'd write you a doctor's note and get you liquored up.
