We seem to be overrun, as many are, with kittens. Apparently, it is kitten season. I posted, a few weeks back, a picture of several little grey balls of fluff who appeared on our porch.
Earlier this week, we were surprised to discover that one of the puff balls was blind. We figured this out because it walked into the car tire and jumped back in total surprise.
We also were delighted to find that this kitten was more prone to friendliness because we weren't looming giants. We also set about in finding this little thing a home.
Sadly, this morning, The Phenom discovered the kitty wounded and very near the road. Our first thought was a car. But, the vet said it was a dog attack and the poor little thing had to be put down.
We know it was best for the kitty . . . spinal injuries cannot be cured. But, still sad. Somehow, we can't help but feel like we didn't do our part to protect it.
