My favorite Republican

Look!!! Finally a post about something that matters! YAY.

So, I was beginning to believe I was losing my mind. I think the term "gaslighting" even came up a time or two. The talking heads (that being the media and the RNC leadership/loudmouths) kept playing up the bogeyman fears of the money the current government is spending in an effort to keep the whole country from going up in smoke. There was massive media coverage of the "tea parties" held on April 15th . . . and the Sunday morning talk shows/nightly CNN weirdos kept waggling their fingers and saying "ooooooooooo . . . . scary" at us.

But, I kept thinking to myself "do I remember this wrong? Wasn't it the republicans and the last administration who started this business of massive bailouts of failing businesses? Didn't we have the huge financial houses begging for money and the car makers begging for money from their private jets before the elections? Surely I don't remember it totally wrong. In fact, wasn't the LAST administration that gave away billyons and billyons (yes, you must say it ala Carl Sagan) without really even keeping track of who and how much they were giving out?

I honestly started to think that my recent milestone birthday was having dire and immediate effects.

And, then, Micheal Steele said this week that it is "disingenuous" of the republican leadership to be crying foul over the current economic recovery efforts when they were the ones who started it. THANK YOU MICHEAL!!!!! Of course, I suspect you will be shortly relieved of your duties as the leader of the RNC, but even as someone who has never been able to bring myself to vote for a republican ever, I truly appreciate your honesty and willingness to restore some integrity to the process you so obviously belief deeply in.

And, it's nice to know I'm not totally losing my mind. And, it is a good lesson on the necessity of being media savvy.
