Thar She Blows!

Just like with bees, you never can tell about hurricanes. Even though the forecasters keep nudging the "strike zone" further north . . . and thus farther away from Bongo's happy retreat, it doesn't mean we aren't getting prepared.

I did here some guy on NPR this morning say that he'd stocked up on "water, sodas, snack foods, and meat" . . . and gasoline. Um, dude . . . if you lose power, how are you going to keep all that meat?

Stock up on batteries, make sure flashlights are in good working order . . . have a couple of battery powered lanterns/radios . . . get water, gatorade, snack foods, fruits and veggies that don't need refrigeration, canned foods that don't require heating, peanut butter and bread. Don't buy stuff that requires cold storage or cooking. Use your generators to keep your frig and/or freezer going but DON'T open them until the power has been back on for a few hours.

Call your friends who live in less stable houses than you . . . or who live alone and might like to hang out with other people during the storm. . . and plan on being in the dark for a few hours. Hopefully, this storm won't pack the punch it could . . . and Ike will just go away altogether.
