I have avoided most of the coverage of the DNC happenings this week. I caught part of Biden's speech . . . and I did find coverage of Hil calling for an end to the roll call vote.
If you read my blog, and The Chick's blog, you know how I feel about Hil. But, watching her call for the end of the roll call vote made me a tad sad. I can't help but feel that this smart woman has had a lifetime of compromising herself for the bigger picture.
She changed her name so her husband could win back the governorship. She gave up her own career to support his. She let the handlers try to force her into the "first lady" cookie cutter. She smiled for the camera over and over and over to say that she loved and trusted and believed her husband when he denied the affair(s). She has endured morons make cruel jokes about her then teenaged daughter to score points with the old boys club (yes, I'm talking about McCain . . . and frankly any man who thinks the way to score points is to attack a teen aged girl about her appearance is low, low, low.)
And, she had to suck it up and appear to be wholly supportive of Obama for the good of the party. I know, it was the only way. But, I can't help but wonder if she goes to sleep at night wondering when she'll get her moment to not compromise?
