Yeah, there is a new one.
I'm playing around in the wild and wonderful world of smoothies. Yummy creativity at my finger tips.
The basic recipe is frozen fruit and fruit juice in a blender. Lately, I've been buying that 100% valencia oj. . . it's not as good as fresh squeezed, but pretty darn tasty. Last night, I stretched myself . . . and now I'm thinking up whole new concoctions.
Last night, I threw in a frozen (sliced) banana, several frozen strawberries, a squirt of simple syrup, OJ, a big spoonful (probably 1/4 cup) of non-fat greek plain yogurt, several basil leaves, and a pinch of vanilla powder. It was yummy! The basil added a nice dimension . . . and the hint of vanilla was perfect without being overwhelming. Now I need to see what other herbs I can toss in . . . what about a mango, mint, yogurt combo? Blueberry, ginger, vanilla, and thyme?
I like the greek style yogurt because it is thicker and creamier than regular yogurt. And, I can get a container that is just 1 pound and has a lid as opposed to two pounds or non-lidded containers.
And, I can convince myself that I'm being healthy even when I'm having something remarkably like a milk shake.
