Foul

Everyone seems to be in a foul temper today. Perhaps we have just, finally, sobered up.

I think the foul moods are feeding off each other . . . so I guess ONE of us is going to have to paste on a smile and see if we can turn this ship around. This is especially important because we have an "exchange student" coming for a week tomorrow. She's not really a real "exchange" student . . . rather a new member to the cast who needs a place to live before she manages to move into her own pad. Yep . . . moving from small town USA to the 'burbs.

It is an odd thing . . . to be hosting a person in your home you've never met before. When my dear old friends visit . . . I tidy up some . . . but expect them to excuse the fact that monkeys are not prone to neatness. But, with this unknown person, I suddenly care if the guest room bed is lumpy or if my clutter will out me as not quite human.

I'm hoping that tasty food and homemade cookies will distract her from any suspicions she may develop.

Tomorrow I'm trying a variation of spinach salad . . . I'm going to oven roast some tomatoes . . . and toss them with spinach, bacon, fried chickpeas . . . and serve it with sauteed chicken breasts. If that doesn't impress the pants off her . . . I don't know what will. Oh, the fried chickpeas will be fried in the bacon drippings . . . we are in the south after all.

Me likey the sound of that dish!

I've been in a foul mood myself. Call me this week and I'll tell you why!

That is, when you're not busy hostessing!
