If god didn't want us to entertain. . .

We wouldn't have been given dishwashers.

This weekend, at Casa del Bongo, we are hosting the annual crawfish boil. YUM! Special K (of the chick's blog fame) is lending us a whole gas tank fueled out door massive cooking set up . . . there will be tents . . . and long tables covered with paper . . . but no dancing bears (unless the child of Special K decides to favor us with some interpretive dance moves.)

Here's the menu . . .

in the boil . . .

crawfish, shrimp, maybe smoked sausage . . . haven't decided yet . . .
new potatoes, corn, artichokes, lemons, onions . . . and a whole lot of seasoning.

Jalapeno crab dip (if I can get crab meat)

broccoli salad . . . the southern classic with lots of bacon in it
sliced cukes in vinegar

home baked french bread

brownies
caramel cheesecake

beer, beer, beer, and more beer.

sounds fun, no? I just love to suck the little heads . . . and, it's good training for the upcoming return to the Big Easy!

The crawfish boil sounds like a variation of the Beaufort Stew on the menu at The Crab Shack in Folly Beach, SC. Mmmmm...

BTW... Have you seen/read _Animal, Vegetable, Miracle_? We waited until it came out in paperback, but have happily consumed it now. Kingsolver is a joy to read.
