It's all down hill from here

This morning, I woke up still tired. When I reached for my towel from the shower. . . there was a big brown spider on my towel. Naturally I dropped the towel and I'm pretty sure let out a very un-monkey like squeal.

I stood, shivering in the cold bathroom trying to decide if the spider had jumped off the towel, or was hiding in it, or had managed to jump to another surface and was waiting to pounce on me. Oscar the Bold was in the bathroom, and just like a cat, did nothing to rescue me.

Finally, I picked up the towel by one corner and gave it a good shake. I held it up and looked carefully at both sides . . . not trusting that it was really gone. But, then, as I dried off, I realized that if it wasn't on my towel anymore . . . it must be on the rug. I looked and looked and didn't see it. I gingerly stepped out of the tub and looked some more. Finally I saw it crawling up the side of the tub. I squirted it with bath cleaner . . . and it didn't die! But, with a foamy cap on it, I could see it as it tried to make a getaway . . . and I could smash it over and over again with my lotion bottle. Imagine the shower/knife scene from the shining (was it the shining?) but with a lotion bottle.

The day went down hill from there. I dropped things. I made stupid mistakes. I tried to distract Oscar the Bold from a task by giving him a foot of ribbon to play with . . . only to extract the whole thing from his mouth just two minutes later.

I think I need to go to bed now. After I search for spiders. I hate spiders.

Once I sprayed a spider with hairspray because we had no bug spray. It worked pretty well....seemed to freeze it in action. Me hates speeeders too!
