I call it art

I know - I've been annoyingly pedantic and serious lately. Too bad I came up with that whole bathroom redecorate thing before I thought of lightening the mood as a new years resolution, eh? But, that would fall within the category of easily justified by subjective view point.

Anyway, back to my point. The last time I visited New Orleans I purchased several reproductions of sweet potato adverts. I like the art style and the colors and I thought they would look grand in my home. This visit was early in the summer of 2005 - the fateful summer of 2005. So, my beloved sweet potatoes have taken on even more value and meaning in my heart.

They are an odd shape for framing. I've been searching for frames that would fit them. I was beginning to think I was going to have to construct frames myself -- which wouldn't be at all fitting with the memory I have stored up in the adverts.

But, today, I found frames that fit perfectly. I have finally, a year and a half later managed to hang my sweet potatoes in my kitchen. Most folks who will see them will just think them interesting adverts. However, much like Andy Warhol's soup labels, because of the warm memories and associations they have for me, in my eyes and heart, they are ART.
