Another mystery solved

So, in the years of living with the Old People, I was witness to a strange phenomena in their relationship. The Old Man could never drive the same route twice. The Old Woman secretly thought that he was trying to maintain her dependence upon him by making sure she never learned her way around and thus needed him to drive her everywhere.

The other day, while making my rounds about the community, I suddenly realized the answer to the Old People's argument. It's not that the Old Man wants to keep the Old Woman perpetually lost. He is so pleased with himself for knowing infinite routes and wants praise for being so clever, he can't help but show off.

Isn't this the way of all male creatures? Constantly chasing the positive affections and admiration of female creatures by demonstrating their cleverness or brawn? I think it's kinda sweet the Old Man still wants to impress the Old Woman after more than 65 years of marriage.

I figured this out when I was cutting across a couple of back roads I know to avoid driving all over heck and back to get between locations. Sadly, the Phenom wasn't around to witness my cleverness. sigh.

Now, I need to figure out if this trait is a matter of nature or nurture?
