Apparently, individual humans have become so isolated from their fellow humans, that a personal care product has felt it necessary to fill the emotional void.
The people who make Kleenex facial tissues have, in the height of cold and flu season, decided to market their product with some pop therapy. Their commercials feature a counselor type inviting passersby to sit on the couch and spill their guts until they cry. They have also set up a web site on which people can read other people's stories and leave their own.
Years ago, the Phenom predicted that computers would just serve to further isolate and break down the fabric of human interaction. I think the Phenom scored on that prediction.
However, not entirely. After all - it is all a ploy to get you to buy more tissues. Also, a rule of advertising is that if an ad can trigger an emotional response - good or bad, customers will remember your product even if they don't remember the emotional response.
So, I say, resist the advertisements. Go find a real, live human, actually talk, share, make a real connection. Don't allow your computer to further substitute for relationships!!!
