And, in with the new

In honor of the whole sweet, steady passage of time, I have found a new favorite pizza.

For years, I've been lovin' the Luau from my favorite joint. The Luau has smoked chicken, Cajun sausage, pineapple, and Tabasco sauce on a traditional cheese/tomato sauce slice. It was my main stay pizza.

Well, New Years Day, after waking up to find I wasn't nearly as hung over as I assumed I'd be -- I ventured over to my favorite 'za joint. I started with a slice of Luau. And, in the spirit of out with the old, in with the new, I moved on to a slice of Ball Park. Zowwweeeee! Pizza Perfection!

The Ball Park features NC Style BBQ (shredded pork, vinegary red pepper sauce), Cajun sausage, feta on a cheese and pesto slice. The herbs and garlic of the pesto make for the perfect counter point to the warmth of the meats - and the feta adds the perfect hint of saltiness.

Perhaps such perfection bodes well for the coming year. I hope so, the bad mood is getting to me.

And, of course, later in the day I had the best collards and hoppin' john anyone could ever have. I am a traditional and superstitious monkey after all.
