I made a turkey club salad for dinner tonight. Salad in a bag, add a few choice veggies. Crisp bacon, cubed up grocery store roasted turkey breast, hard boiled egg, and blue cheese crumbles. I made my own croutons. They are much better than the boxed variety - and only slightly more difficult than opening the box and inner bag.
Cube up some french bread. Melt a couple o table spoons of butter with about equal amount olive oil. Grate up two - three cloves of garlic, add in a palm full of dried italian seasoning -- let simmer a bit -- then toss with the cubes of bread. Spread out on a foil lined cookie sheet -- and put in a 350 degree oven. Stir every 5 minutes or so until they are crispy and lightly browned. Yummy!! Make enough for nibbling. The Phenom loves to eat homemade croutons as snack food.
On a totally unrelated topic. I've been sucked into a show that has me totally bewildered. It's called Bridezillas. Each week one or two women are featured who are planning/participating in their weddings. Pretty much every week, I find my self pleading with the would-be groom to RUN!!! Because these women are horrible. Threats of violence. Non-stop cursing. Actual physical violence against the groom, wedding party, etc. And the whole time they are spending literally thousands and thousands of dollars for an event that is making them utterly miserable.
Getting married is a pretty serious thing. Getting married is a luxury some in human society can't partake in. It seems to me that these women, pretty universally, are much more concerned with the wedding than they are the success of the marriage itself. I ask myself week after week why these poor guys put themselves through the agony and they have to take the monster home at the end of the day. The other thing I don't get is how people can spend literally 100 k or more for a single day - and not even muster up faking being happy? Truly, something about humans I'll never understand.
