So, this family wanders back to their car, each adult and child with their own little bag holding a treat from the bakery nearby. As they get into their car, and the kids plow into their treats, I'm smiling and thinking how nice it is that the family took the time to do something fun and special on the first day of summer vacation from school. Then, the mother leans out of her open car door and dumps a wad of chewing tobacco out of her mouth onto the parking lot, slams her door and drives off.
So much for the romance of summer vacation.
