Good Karma, Bad Karma?

So, I post this blog entry slamming KFC (to which the Phenom points out that in fact, I actually like KFC) for this horrible concoction involving nothing but carbs and fat. And the VERY NEXT DAY, McDonalds slips me a free large fries in with my salad order. (Although, the ever harshing my buzz Phenom pointed out that the free fries could have been an attempt to kill me by clogging my arteries.) I like to think the free fries were good karma.

Today, I read an article on Yahoo about how identity thieves and hackers have given up inventing ways around firewalls and security devices - and are concentrating on the human brain. The article described the letters from nigerian businessmen offering to transfer millions into your bank account or people with names like H. Acker threatening to sue you for sending bogus spam and demanding cash. The article pointed out that humans are often dumb enough to think that nigerian businessmen really will give them loads of money or are all too happy to open a file with an "exe" suffix on it. (For those of you who are now confused, an ".exe" on a file means "execute" and you should think of it literally as well as figuratively.)

So, I'm happily reading through the list of scams and thinking smuggly that I would never fall for such scams. And then I realized that maybe I just bought myself some bad karma. Maybe I should offer the karma gods a sacrifice. I wonder if they want the cole slaw or beans from my BBQ plate lunch?
