Mood Altering experiments

After that first glorious experiment with the sugar free red bull, I've been trying other brands.

Here are my findings thus far.

I tried the Tab Energy stuff at the suggestion of Sparkle -- it tasted somewhat better than red bull, but didn't pack the heart fluttering buzz of that first red bull. Then again, neither did the second or subsequent red bulls.

I had one of those Mountain Dew mdx or mvp or what ever they are called. It tasted like a sweeter, more syrupy mountain dew. It didn't recapture the magic of the first RB - but, I was hot, tired, and really needed my mood elevated quickly - and it did the job. (This was consumed in San Antonio after a long hot day at the zoo, long bus trip back, and while I was in line trying to make my purchase a old man line cut and acted as if I ought to enable his rude behavior just because he was old and as I turned to leave after making the purchase, I was assaulted by the moron teenage humans who decided that tackling each other in a crowded store was "fun".)

I have also tried Sobe Adrenaline Rush. This one is probably my favorite. It has a tropical flavor to it -- like passion fruit or something like that. Again, no dancy hands, but a clear buzz.

I don't think I'll ever recapture that first blast from the initial red bull. But, I do like the elevated mood of the subsequent beverages. I previously reported that Red Bull is caffeine free. Clearly, attempting to read a label while hopped up on the stuff is a bad idea. There is caffeine in it -- and it's much higher up on the list than the Sobe. Something else to consider when purchasing -- some of these drinks have vitamins and other additives and some don't. I don't remember the Tab Energy having high levels of vitamins (again, I read the label while under the influence, so I could be completely wrong.) Red Bull has 100% of your vitamin C, 250% of the daily needs of B6, 80% of B12, and 50% of pantothenic acid. The sobe has 100% C, 30% folic acid, 250% B6, 100% b12 and stuff called "d-ribose, l-camitine, inositol, guarana, and ginseng" in it in addition to the Taurine.

I don't know if I'll continue to try too many more of these drinks, having found the Sobe to be my favorite thus far. Oh yeah, the Sobe also runs about a dollar cheaper for 4 than the red bull. I may try the full sugar red bull -- just in the name of science.
