One man's "insane" is another man's . . . .

Two items in this line of thinking.

Item one: The Phenom and I were recently watching a sporting contest on television. One of the commentors said of one of the athletes "he's also fluent in turkey." The Phenom and I looked at each other, and laughed. Since then, The Phenom has periodically made guttural, "gobbling" sounds and then "translated" what was said in "Turkey." This morning, as I was leaving for the daily "work" activity, The Phenom gobbled something to me, and then said "oh, I'm sorry, that was something dirty." Apparently, to be fluent in a language, even "Turkey", you must not only speak the language, but have a clue what you are saying.

Item two: In an article in the NY Times, a writer observed of a mental patient "In addition to claiming the dean was out to poison him, he had threatened his department head and several students." Now, you know that I'm well acquainted with quite a few academic types. Let me assure you, threats to department heads and students happen with incredible regularity at every academic institution in the country, and whose to say the Dean wasn't the insane one?

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't really out to get you.
