Being addicted to the media, I have all the cable stations. I'm particularly fond of BBC. I like the frankness and the slightly different vocabulary of the brits over yanks. One show that fascinated me for a time was What Not To Wear. Hosted by Trinny and Susannah - "fashion journalists" - they ripped apart wardrobes and instructed their "victims" on how to dress to look their age, their profession, or to their body types.
Now, those of you who have read this blog know that I've lamented my rather un-human body type. I have watched with interest the various people paraded on the show and the dressing advice given. (Afterall, anything I can do to make my disguise as a human more realistic is good.)
I also bought their book and have spent hours pouring over their advice about colors and styles.
Today, I think I've finally found an outfit that Trinny and Susannah wouldn't toss in the bin. And, amazingly, I do feel more confident and better about myself. For a creature more accustomed to running au natural, finding confidence in clothing is an interesting change.
I'm wearing . . . .
trouser cut pants -- cut longer than I normally wear -- which offers the illusion of being taller and less bow-legged.
Grey, v-necked, cashmere sweater -- the sleeves are a tad longer which makes me look less like a "knuckle dragger." Also, according to the book, grey is one of the best colors for me and with my funny short neck, a v-neck makes me look like I have one.
Moderate heeled short boots. Again - it helps me look taller -- and causes me to throw my body weight forward while walking -- which makes me look more human.
Suede Jacket - pulls the whole look together.
