Hittin' the highway

When I moved to this small, southern town, the Old Woman was concerned that I would be missing out on seeing the whole, wide world. She married young and didn't get that chance. She has always loved to see the pictures and hear our stories of our travels.

So, along with the radishes and spinach popping up in the garden, springtime also means planning some trips. On the near horizon are 4 trips.

I'll be headed west to see the Old People soon. The had a harsh winter and wouldn't allow anyone to visit while there was a threat of losing power/well functions. No matter, springtime at their home is lovely. I have several friends dotted along the way, including one who has recently relocated near to the Old People, so there will be other visits too.

I have a girl friend trip on the horizon. I've not had a girlfriend weekend in a couple of years. There is something wonderful about the comrade of girlfriends. I've missed it. We have a couple of events planned for the weekend, including roller derby and dancing.

I have a trip to the coast planned for late spring. I do love old, southern towns, and I've never visited this one before. I think I love the planning process as much as anything. There are so many good, southern restaurants in this town, it will be hard to select just a couple.

And, of course, there will be the early summer trip to NOLA. This year, we'll be bringing a friend with us who has never seen the fine sights of the Crescent City. We appreciate the brief opportunity to remember what it was like to see it for the first time so many years ago.

It is good to have people in your life with which you can share the experience of travel and friendship.
