Remember my shock and disbelief over the Old Man's bizarre notion about locally sourced foods?
My local farmer's market is hosting a fall CSA program. (Community Supported Agriculture) And, my most wonderful ESK signed me up as a "boss's day" gift. Each week, for the next several, I will receive a tote bag full of yummies from local farmers. The first arrived today.
In my tote this week: several large, ripe tomatoes, a bag of sweet green peppers, a huge sweet onion, a ziploc bag full of hot peppers, cukes, and snap beans.
For dinner tonight, I cooked up the beans with some yukon gold potatoes with a bit of bacon fat. The beans were juicy and tender and practically no strings. There was a recipe for Tomato Pie in the bag, which might have to be our Saturday night supper.
I can't wait to see what comes in next week's bag.
