Sneaking Suspicion

I've had many many pets in my days. There were the cats in the lab. There have been at least 20 pets since my escape. Currently, we feed anywhere from 7 - 12 cats on a daily basis (only a handful of those get their medical coverage from the firm of Big Sucker Monkey.) We have taken in a variety of other critters from the opossum we would leave food out for to the bunnies to a dog to humans we've fed.

All of this is to say, I know a thing or two about a good pet. I know what makes for a satisfying pet/monkey/human companionship.

Recently, we snagged one of the free loaders who comes to our door for food on a regular basis (a kitten about 4 months old) and took it to the vet, got it cleaned up and shots, and gave it to a friend of ours. In the 48 hours this kitten was in our home (being taught to use a litter box and act civilized) we fell in deep critter love with the thing. He was the perfect blend of rambunctious and sweet. He would sleep all night on the bed and chase after any toy and purr like a motor boat.

Since giving him away, my friend has been very good about sending me pictures of her child with the cat along with telling me stories of his wondrous cuteness. And, now I have this sneaking suspicion that I gave a way a truly excellent cat that would have really made our household a lot of fun.

At least I know he's being appreciated . . . and apparently very much loved by her child who calls the cat "lil buddy."
