Yeah, the Phenom thought it sounded suspect too.
Over the weekend, Super K brought me a loaf of cheesy bread. The bread is studded with cheddar cheese and has a nice crust of cheddar. While munching some as a midnight snack, it occurred to me that it would make yummy french toast. AND IT DID.
Here's what I cobbled together.
2 eggs
Milk . . . um, 1/3 cup maybe?
salt/pepper/perhaps 1/8 tsp dry mustard
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Mix it all together well . . . and melt about a tablespoon butter over medium heat in a frying pan. Slice off a couple good, thick slices of the cheesy bread and dip in the custard. I flipped each slice a couple of times and most of the custard was soaked up. I made sure the parm cheese stuck to the bread.
Fry in the butter until golden brown. Thats it. No syrup. No embellishment. It had that lovely soft, custard consistency in the middle with crispy exterior. A satisfying if not heart attack worthy meal.
