Years ago, when I invited a friend to come see our college's basketball team play for the national championship . . . my friend said "that's a long way to drive if we lose." I drove it . . . he stayed. We won and it was a fun, fun night.
I was younger and more naive then. The grown up and cynical me wasn't as sure that we'd win Tuesday night.. . . and hosting friends is a lot of work for a loss. And, I wanted to be alone if it didn't spin the way I wanted it to. And, it just never occurred to me.
But, now I realize I totally missed the opportunity to come up with a great theme meal.

I totally would have rather been at your meal...win or loss...than where I was that night. Sigh.
