Pissin' off the Man

Think back to elementary school.  Did you learn about the four food groups or the food pyramid?   You learned about fruits and veggies and meats and legumes and proteins, and you learned about fats and sugars right?

How were beans, like pinto beans or black beans, listed?  A protein or legume, right?

Well, this bristled my little monkey fur when I saw that Bush's beans is now putting on their labels that pinto beans (I imagine other varieties . . . I was making chili and only had pinto beans) as "the vegetable with more."

Being in a cheeky mood (as monkeys often are), I fired off a comment on their web site reminding them that, in fact, beans are a legume and not rightly a veggie.

That was a mistake.  I am being stalked by the Bush's beans company now.  They want to brain wash me into believing that beans are BOTH a meat and a vegetable.  (They claim, in their phone messages left at my number, that pintos have "recently been declared a vegetable and are one of the few foods that are both a meat or legume and a vegetable.")

Yeah, and Pluto isn't really a planet and a packet of ketchup meets one of your daily required veggie servings.  At least I'm not being stalked by the Pluto advocates.
