Tomorrow, I'm going on a bit of a picnic. Now, the Old Woman tells of picnics with her mother that featured chocolate and cheese. But, since this picnic will be in a hot, sunny place, I thought meltables would be a bad idea.
So, here's what I've got in my basket:
salad of honeydew melon, feta, mint, olive oil
sugar snap peas
hummus and bagel chips
seaweed and wasabi rice crackers
smoked almonds
OJ with coconut rum
water
I have a couple of those freezer bricks to keep the cold stuff cold . . . but I've also come up with something I hope will be the genius idea of the season. I've taken a couple of wash cloths, put them in ziploc bags and saturated them with water. Then, I stuck them in the freezer. They will help keep everything cold, but also will be perfect for cleaning up sticky hands and faces.
Don't hate me because I'm a genius.
