I'm in the mountains, visiting the Old Folks' compound. The Old Woman is in one of her "clean out and simplify" moods. The Phenom is a tad alarmed over the baskets, pottery, and other items she has decided need to be removed to my home and out of hers. I'm also learning more stories from her childhood. I keep threatening to write a book about her, and she threatens to release photos from my "awkward stage" to the public. We have something of a tense stand off on the issue.
We spent a couple of days visiting an old friend and meeting her two children. She has a lovely home, beautiful family, and seems quite happy. Her children are, um, very active. But, that's how human children are suppose to be, no? But, two days with her children saw us going to bed before 10pm . . . which only happens if there is extreme fever involved. I don't see how parents do it.
I've been buying fun and cool little things from the local merchants. I even decided that we needed to venture out for an "adult beverage" last night. I can't believe that I'm pretty much a wise old monkey, and I've never ventured out in this town for a beer before. I ended up having some home made sangria and "jerk green beans" which were deliciously spicy and sweet. I'll have to try to make them at home.
Home in a few days . . . by then every thing should have blown over and the authorities will be looking at other options.

Book and photos combined into one multi-generational (multi-species!) volume!
