Some of us southern types are waiting for snow. I know, in most of the world, snow isn't worth mentioning and really more of a bother. But here in the south . . . it's an event. Local news stations have reporters scattered throughout the region and are reporting if flakes have been seen . . . much the same way they report hurricane conditions.
And, like any good southerner . . . this morning I got up and took our dog to the vet to board and then hurried to the grocery store. Gotta lay in supplies.
My purchases included:
1 1/2 pounds bacon - the good stuff
cereal and milk (because you need to have extra perishables in case the power goes out)
oranges and grapefruits
apple cider and cinnamon sticks
4 bags choco chips
case of stella artois beer
case of modelo beer
roasted turkey breast
peanuts
cocoa powder
This afternoon, I'll be baking cookies, cooking up bacon and switching back and forth between fresh squeezed oj, spiced cider, and hot chocolate.
I'll be pissed if I miss the three flakes that we get because they came at 4AM again.
