Ad Nauseum

I am already sick to death of the presidential election. I frankly don't care any more who is running and what they think. I suspect it's all the same now anyway. A local candidate has moved into the office next door to mine. He gave a local children's advocacy group a song and dance about how he really likes children and wants to support children's causes. The staffer at that agency who told me this seemed quite impressed. My response was "um, like he was gonna say any different? What candidate says 'we spend too much on kids programs, they should get jobs and support themselves."

I'm also feeling like we should demand thanksgiving back. Damn people! Do we really have to have christmas stuff in the stores before halloween? One of our local malls recently had santa make a visit THIS WEEKEND! Trust us, we all know christmas is coming - you don't need to start hammering us over the head with christmas carols and wreaths of holly before thanksgiving has even loomed up on the horizon.

I wonder if we start a movement to kill the thanksgiving holiday and just extend christmas to a week -- if that would be radical enough to make people think twice about the over commercialization of the holidays.

And, in response to Shelly -- my favorite christmas memories always involve food and spending time with people (and critters) I love. The Old Woman always makes hundreds of sugar cookies and the family spends christmas eve decorating them. There is always special foods at the holidays. And, I think the best christmas I ever had was one where we had quite a deep snow and spent the whole day sledding and drinking hot chocolate by a fire.

I too grow weary of the whole Christmas thing and it isn't even December yet...A warning shot that parts their hair is very good remedial medicine for politicians...I'm kidding of course...really I'm kidding:):):)

If I knew how to bake I would make sugar cookies, but I leave that up to my sisters. Thanks for sharing your memory.
