Liver Abuse? Yes Please!

This weekend, I went to a largish city somewhat away from where I live and celebrated the birthday of a friend who has been sympathetic to me since school days. We met at the home of one of her relations and moved on to the central entertainment district of this city. Years ago, business would take me into this city - but it had nothing of the nightlife it now supports. We started at a pub for our first drink and appetizers. Then, moved on to a swank restaurant with a cool atmosphere. I suspect that may have been the best meal I've had since my last trip to Commander's Palace. I also had two very cool martinis.

We then moved on to a series of bars - all with a different flair. The last one was my favorite - it had an exotic, Moroccan type thing going on -- low couches, lots of candles, very cool music accentuated by drums. The scene was young and hip. And, it made me a tad sad that I missed out on that scene when I was young and cool. Granted, the decisions I made for myself wouldn't have led to being part of a hip nightlife scene . . . but still. Oh, what am I whining about - I got to do it once. And, frankly, I don't have the wardrobe to do it much more than that.

And, amazingly, the very large and perfect steak I had for dinner helped cushion my stomach for all the booze I drank. I wasn't bit hung over this morning. It's the miracle of the steak. ahhhhh.
