Yeah, I'm going to comment . . .

Click on the title for the news story I picked to link to this post.

I'm sure watercoolers are being drained all across the country over this story -- the arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case.

Here are a couple of my not so humble opinions.

First, the dude's ex-wife is offering up a public alibi for him the night of the killing. I don't know if she called the news or if they called her -- but I wonder if this woman is trying to get her "15 minutes" this way - which is pretty sick.

Second, dude says he did it. Now, he could be confessing to get his 15 minutes too -- but I somehow doubt that.

Third, dude says that he sent letters to the child's mother before her death. HOW CREEPY, F*CKED UP is that? I can't even imagine the horror of dying of cancer, going to your grave knowing the "real killer" was never found, etc -- but then to get letters from the jerk who ruined your life?

Fourth, dude says that it would take hours to tell exactly what happened and that it is "painful" for him to talk about it. GEES O PEET! If it takes hours for him to retell it - I suspect that he's getting off on the retelling. And, I don't bloody care how "painful" a recollection it is for him. Jerk. Also, he says that the killing was an accident. Um, How? How do you "accidentally" find yourself in someone's house, uninvited, in the middle of the night? How do you "accidentally" find yourself taking a child from her bed? How do you "accidentally" sexually assault that child? How do you "accidentally" find nylon cord and a paintbrush and wrap it around her neck and twist until she's dead? I understand the child was found bruised from a beating - I can see that beating the child black and blue might be "accidental" if she were struggling for her life. Only, the fact she was struggling for her life was no accident. (It is important to keep in mind, criminals - especially folks who know they are staring at the death penalty and folks who bugger children -- will minimize their crimes. Like we're going to be fooled into thinking "Hey, maybe he's not such a bad guy!")

Fifth, I have to chuckle and say KARMA!!! that dude was arrested and "questioned" in a country where civil liberties for criminals is an unknown idea. I kinda hope those Thai officials "persuaded" him to come clean. Heh Heh.

And, lastly - that last one is surely a sign that I'm more human than I like to think. Maybe not, maybe if we had scum like this dude in the monkey world, we'd do the same thing to him.

Mark my words, he's full of beans. I think he wants to be associated with a famous case and he's a nut. He belongs in prison, but not for the JonBenet case.

That's my humble opinion.

Yeah - I have to say that more and more I have this sneaking suspicion that this guy is either crazy or crazy like a fox. The Phenom says that the news folks are saying that he knew details that weren't publicly released. However, the reports are that he obsessively researched the case and communicated with a variety of folks who had non-media generated information.

The paper today wrote that he said he picked her up from school the day he killed her. Sounds like a pretty elaborate fantasy life going on there.

Also, back to the ex-wife. The media is now clarifying (and thus, it MIGHT be that I owe the woman a nod of apology) that she says that at no point during their marriage did they spend xmas in colorado or were they ever apart on christmas. That is the sort of thing I think you would remember. Unless you celebrate 12th night and not xmas day.

The short of it is, I suspect that Ree may be exactly right -- and much more to the point than me.
