I was a naughty monkey on Friday, and the Phenom and I took off for a "date." Because of the Phenom's performance schedule and the concentration it takes to pull off each performance, we never get to "date" unless it's summer hiatus. We had a lovely italian lunch. I "discovered" a lovely drink called a "Lemoncello" -- fizzy, lemony, icy, and boozy. You know those drinks available in convenient stores "coke icees" -- imagine a lemon icee with booze. Yum.
Then, we saw the first movie since seeing Elizabethtown last fall. (The rare exception to the hiatus rule of dates, but at that time, we had been kidnapped and were at the mercy of others.) We saw the new Johnny Depp Pirate movie. Of course, the real hero of the movie was the cheeky little monkey who had to bring all the humans back to their mission several times throughout the movie.
We also rented the movie Capote over the weekend. I think it did a good job of sucking you in to the superficial Capote and then crush your infatuation with revealing him to be just as manipulative as anyone else.
As for food -- nothing terribly impressive. The only road side food were some fresh cherries. I do love cherries. Tomorrow night, we are hosting the very pregnant McSmelly and I'm going to make "stuffed shells." It's one of those dishes I don't really have a recipe for other than to combine ricotta cheese, parm and motz. cheese, frozen (defrosted, squeezed dry) spinach, an egg and lots of garlic. I make my standard tomato/garlic/basil sauce and then top it all with slices of motz. cheese. I think I'm going to make a fast "faux" chocolate mousse for dessert. Dinner is just what you push around on your plate while you wait for dessert anyway.
