Passing for sane

One of the observations I made last week while traveling is that, through the careful use of technology, one could pass themselves off as sane. Or, rather, more effectively cover insanity.

Years ago, before the days of cell phones, anyone wandering the streets talking to themselves was someone to avoid. In fact, "talking to yourself" is one of those indicators of insanity that is so common that it's universally known as a "problem" symptom.

However, these days, walk down any street, and you're likely to see several people chatting away without another human in sight. We assume that they are on the phone. Because of blue tooth technology, they don't even have to hold a phone up to their ears, or have a cord running from their belt to their ear.

So, while in Texas last week, I saw a few people who were clearly "the sort to avoid" chatting away with their imaginary friends. I thought to myself that some caseworker ought to get them a faux earpiece so that people won't automatically target them as being weak or vulnerable.

That's just my idea for today.

On to other news: remember the whole "koko wants a kitten" episode from the summer? Well, Stinky is no longer a kitten. She has grown into a rather large cat. I have come to notice that she frequently perches near one of us and "observes" our behavior. I think she's trying to learn our ways so that she might one day kill us and assume our identities. She gives us little warnings, like springing onto to some article of clothing we've laid out to wear and try to kill it. I also found a stash of toys she's "killed" and food behind some furniture today.

I've not yet figured out the formula for regrowing Hank. For now, he is imprisoned in his beaker. I'm not sure what the shelf-life of a clone seed is these days. I wonder what would happen if I tried to grow him in Sobe?
