Life imitating Art

I love Monty Python. When I was a captive lab monkey, at night, my Graduate Student would leave the radio on. Most nights, it was tuned to the radio broadcast of the local PBS television station. Late in the evening, Monty Python would be broadcast. Even before I could use human language to make my own wishes and thoughts known, I enjoyed the absurdity of the sketches of Monty Python. Perhaps that is why I've always appreciated the genre of "comedy of errors" or just the everyday absurdity of human behavior.

So, this morning, Uncle Rico IMs me with commentary about the content and direction of this blog. It seems that Uncle Rico really likes the entries when I get lathered up over some social or political issue. Which really isn't all that surprising -- since the long term relationship we've shared really as been one of mutual antagonism and pseudo intellectual argument. Often, in Uncle Rico's IM conversations, it's rather clear to me that he's really just poking me intellectually to argue with him.

So, as he's poking away this morning, it occurs to me -- this is a Monty Python sketch. Remember the bits where a man would walk into a generic, greyish office and demand an argument but gets a face full of abuse before the mistake is pointed out and he's redirected to another room for an argument? Well, apparently, I am Uncle Rico's Department of Abuse and Arguments.

On another note: at Sparkle's recommendation, today I'm having a Tab Energy drink for breakfast instead of the sugar free red bull. I know why Sparkle likes the Tab version -- it's pink. The can, the drink are pink. Silly Sparkle.
