Bizarre Economic Phenomena

I have a bit of a gambling habit.

However, I have managed to restrict my gambling to Ebay - for the most part. My thinking is that if I don't win, then I don't lose any money. Why don't we call it a lesson learned and not elaborate any further. (We will pretend those occasional excursions to Harrah's never really happened.)

Anyway, I generally can find loads and loads of crap on which The Super Bongo can bid on Ebay. Even the time I ended up "winning" multiples of the same item didn't cure me.

But, my friend McSmelly has cured me. McSmelly gave me an Ebay gift certificate months ago. I visit Ebay regularly. I have spent countless hours searching for stuff I want to spend the certificate on. And, damned if I've not yet been able to spend it!

It's just the most frustrating thing. When I get money or gift certificates, I like to be able to report back to the giver what was purchased, and thus, what they ended up giving The Super Bongo. So far, I've not found anything I think is gift worthy.

Maybe this is why I got the certificate in the first place. I imagine that a monkey is rather difficult to buy for - and the certificate was acknowledgement of that fact. Heck, if I can't find a gift for me - how does any mere human have a chance?
