In just a few hours, in this country at least, we'll be seeing in the "Year of the Hare." Truly, the closest most of us will get to the Chinese New Year is having buffet for lunch.
I find it interesting that people put so much stock in horoscopes. I find them amusing. I was most impressed in a meeting last week when one of our colleagues knew way more about the zodiac that I thought existed. While I refuse to buy the notion of the "new zodiac signs" . . . I wouldn't alter my travel plans or choose a wedding date based on the skies.
I also find it interesting that people really only want to know the "good" qualities of a zodiac sign, never the negative. Kinda the same way people who claim to have been someone in a past life. . . that someone was always a king or a famous person . . . never some schmo on the street or a beggar or a prostitute who died at the age of 21 of venereal disease.
So, Year of the Hare . . . according to my coffee table book (and that makes it totally accurate, right) people born under this sign are sociable, have empathy and modesty, they are diplomatic and make good gardeners. However, they also can be over-cautious, insecure, moody, and complainers.
Frankly, there is a bit of that and none of that in all of us. I don't think you can make such sweeping generalizations about every person born between two dates, regardless of background, experiences, or environment. But, it does make for fun conversation while we are cracking open those fortune cookies . . . which originally were served by Japanese restaurants . . . before WWII, that is.
