Kidnapped!

Saturday, our good friend W S Random kidnapped us. WS has been a friend of The Phenom and myself for many years now - and more or less is the nicest person on the planet.

WS started out by giving us a list of stuff to bring/prepare prior to our kidnapping. What had us really scratching our heads is that The Phenom was instructed to bring soap/shampoo/toothbrush/paste and I wasn't. What could we possibly be doing that would require The Phenom to shower but me not? And, when asked if we should bring a change of clothing or towels - the answer was no.

The morning of our kidnapping arrived --- and we were driven to a small resort peppered town nearby. Oddly, we've never really explored this little town. The Phenom was treated to a massage. I got a facial. I'm trying to revel in my newly softened face (free of that coarse monkey fur) and not take the facial personally. You humans really know how to pamper. Then again, a facial is just a fancy smanshy way of mutual grooming, now isn't it?

Then, to a very cool little local place for lunch - which was delicious! I do love food - and the people at this place clearly know what they are doing. Perfectly seasoned food - great combinations.

We wandered about the little town -- popping into shops, I found a new monkey for my office (I have a growing collection of toy monkeys). I also found a baby gift or two for the humans I know who have faith enough to reproduce.

We were given our choice of movies to see --- we picked Elizabethtown. I liked it. I don't know why critics panned it. Granted, nothing blew up, Phoebe Cates didn't take off her top, and there was no sex/drugs/rock and roll subject matter. I think it's an adult coming of age movie. Full of good stuff we should keep in mind -- like not measuring ourselves/lives by failure --- not taking time with loved ones for granted -- carpe diem -- all that jazz.

Then, we were treated to a spectacular dinner. I had salmon with an amazing mustard sauce. And, WS ordered a bottle of champange to be served with our dessert -- to toast us beautifully.

What really has us blown away is the care and effort put into planning such a wonderful day. We were touched that someone would express their affection for us, our friendship in such a way.
